    Notes
Draped Bust Quarter Heraldic Eagle (1804 - 1807)
After the hiatus in the denomination’s
production, the Philadelphia Mint began striking quarter dollars in 1804. The draped bust Liberty designed by Robert Scot was used on the obverse with stars reduced to 13. The reverse designed by newly hired John Reich was changed to feature a heraldic eagle drawn from the official seal. The eagle displayed wings spread with a shield and thirteen stars above. The denomination inscription was added. While not as rare as the smaller eagle type, the Heraldic Eagle Draped Bust coinage is scarce and remains popular among type collectors and quarter dollar enthusiasts
