    Description

This is a British Lieutenant's Uniform from "The King's Liverpool Regiment" for the period following Queen Elizabeth's death in 1901 until WWI when I understand the use of the dress uniform was halted for the duration of the War.  The condition of the exterior is Fine Plus to Excellent.  These older uniforms are seldom found in such appealing condition.  There are a few small areas of surface insect damage but no holes and the areas are not obtrusive.  Ask for photos if necessary.  The interior shows distress but not extreme.
All the buttons are original to the uniform.  None are missing and none have been replaced or moved.  Button back mark is Hobson & Sons, Lexington St., London, W."  the same name as for the tailor.
The shoulder boards have one pip denoting the rank of Lieutenant.
I am not sure what the "T" on the shoulder boards represents.
The King's Liverpool Regiment is one of Britain's oldest Regiments with a straight, direct lineage.  Created in 1685 as the Princess Anne of Denmark's Regiment, it became the King's (Liverpool) Regiment in 1881.
This uniform was tailored by Hobson & Sons, 1, 3 & 5 Lexington St., London, W. for (Lt) L. Roper, Esq., 19 Nov 1901 shortly after the death of Queen Victoria on 22 Jan, 1901, which required that the uniforms, or at least their buttons, be changed to that used by King Edward VII.
Please ask for additional photos if desired as only twelve can be posted with the listing.
You are welcome to make a reasonable offer on this uniform.
