This is a beautiful excellent quality UNMOUNTED 8 1/4 inch by 10 inch  hand colored photo from an original black and white with caption and photography information included on a separate sheet the back of military B-18 bombers over Waikiki, late1930's(?). It has preservation tips and Hawaii's aviation history included with the separate label. We also have a black and white version at our eBay store. It was hand colored by one of our artists and is a copyrighted image.
The original black and white photo was produced by the 18th Army Air Force squadron based at Wheeler Air Base (
not by us
) in their darkroom and it was suggested that this was a propaganda or trick photo by combining two sandwiched negatives and printed to produce the image. It was also on a military officer's club Christmas party invitation from the same period. It also looks a little sharper than the sample. More information is included in the caption.

This photo is printed on glossy surface paper. Please be aware of this. We do however try to crop and correct them so they look best. It is printed on 8x10 inch paper from a copy negative and margins may be slightly trimmed. When it is attached to the single mat 8x10" backing board you will be able to see the black backing board around the borders of the print. It makes the print look like there is a thin margin around the edges of the photo, which you can see here.
Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using archival photo adhesive and cannot easily be removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo.This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8.5 x11" frame and displaying the image as is.
