    Description

Your bid is for a B&M BULLETIN, Volume 31, Number 3, published by the B&MRRHS, INC. in 2019 with Andrew M. Wilson as editor. This issue measures 21.5 by 28.0 cm and contains the usual 40 pages. The front cover shows an engraving for advertising purposes by the Amoskeag Locomotive Works. The editor discussed locomotives, new and otherwise, Mass. freight rail grants, tie jobs, and changes at North Station. CONSISTS: FROM THE CAR BOOKS OF CONDUCTORS FORREST E. STAPLES AND DOUGLAS M. RICE, By COL (Ret.) Tom E. Thompson, details the makeup and operations of passenger trains operating between Springfield and Greenfield, Massachusetts, in 1951. What we referred to in the DS Office on Miles Street in Greenfield as “Shorts”. A timely look back, as I write this in June 2019 we are awaiting the announcement of when these services will be resumed later this summer, or ?, in a 30 month experiment to determine interest. This article covers 11 pages and features a diagram of switches and signals in the Greenfield and Deerfield area, along with 11 photos from back in the day. From The Archives, THE UNTHINKABLE AND THE HOOSAC TUNNEL by Andrew M. Wilson concerns a document, reproduced in its entirety, detailing the advantages and problems involved with using the Tunnel as a bomb shelter. Circa 1960, this was presented to Fitchburg Division superintendent, Iolas W. Clifford. I’m surprised it was saved. This piece covers 5 pages.
From Amoskeag to ALCO- THE MANCHESTER LOCOMOTIVES WORKS by Ken Milender is on the next 17 pages with this fascinating story for steam locomotive historians. There are 20 illustrations, with 3 of them being from the company’s specification books. Don’t miss this article if you love early New England manufacturing history! “focalpoint” features Conway Scenic at Whitefield on 02 September 2018. Ball signals live! The rear cover is a colorful lithograph from the MLW. This magazine is new, as purchased direct from the B&MRRHS, for eBay exposure purposes to support the Society.
Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
