SV stands for sons of veterans, a civil war fraternal group, whose fathers were civil war veterans and most likely in the GAR, Grand Army of the Republic. Dayton had several German speaking units in the civil war including men who went to join German units in Cincinnati like the 9th OVI, 28th OVI, 106th OVI and 108th OVI. Additionally the 35th OVI in Hamilton. This particular organization was founded in 1898, and the ribbon commemorates the 13th annual festival. The ribbon has a rare view of the state of Ohio symbol.
