This is an extremely nice example of a Mexican Regulation Artillery Short Sword Bowie Knife "REPUBLICA MEXICANA." which dates from the early part of the 20th Century that has survived near superb in its condition. The fabulous Bowie Style blade remains absolutely beautiful with only minor surface blemishes and measures 16 3/8 inches in length. The blade is marked "REPUBLICA MEXICANA." on one side and wears the serial number "975" on the ricasso. The large steel boat shaped guard remains tight and sturdy and the wooden grips have survived in very healthy condition as well with the locking stud in very good working order. The steel fitted leather scabbard also remains near perfect in its condition with just some minor surface scuffs to the leather finish. Overall measuring 22 1/4 inches in length.
