The Milwaukee Road’s expanded Chicago Division. Besides the lines west of Chicago to Savanna, East Moline and Dekalb, in 1973 this division also included the former Terre Haute Division, so the line south of Chicago to Terre Haute, Bedford and Seymour (plus the Joliet Branch) is included in this track chart / condensed profile. The line west out of Chicago begins at Chicago Union Station, then through Western Avenue, Franklin Park, Bensenville and eventually to Savanna, Included are the lines (some including abandoned track): Kirkland to Dekalb Jct (and beyond as abandoned), Savanna to Ebner, Ashdale to West Davenport (Moline, East Moline and Rock Island).
The old Terre Haute Division, now part of this Chicago Division track chart, ran from Chicago (Franklin Park) to Seymour in southern Indiana. This track chart is updated to 1973, however most of the abandoned trackage in southern Indiana is still represented, just with a notation of the date of the abandonment so the line in this track chart goes all the way to the historical easternmost point for the Milwaukee Road, Westport, Indiana. The line to Westport made the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific the transcontinental railroad that made it furthest east. Also included is the branch line from Delmar Junction to Joliet, going through Momence and Peotone. Noted on this track chart is the ‘new’ trackage rights to Louisville via Bedford on the L&N (old Monon). No detail is included on this line, but it is noted.
