In very good condition. This is a Top-Quality CD of 363 MONON Railroad train order images, covering the entire MONON route until its merger in 1971. Included is one station list showing each location and the number of images included from that location.
Also included are 7 different MONON timetables, 4 public and 3 employee, in a small compendium as follows:
Employee timetables:
System #16  10-25-1964  38 pages;
System #18  4-27-1969  39 pages;
System #12  4-24-1960  16 pages.
Public timetables:
System PTT dated 10-28-1962  2 pages;
System PTT  10-25-1964  2 pages;
System PTT  4-25-1965  2 pages; and
System PTT  4-24-1966  2 pages.
Total 101 pages of timetables, public and employee. Some very good reading here.
These 7 timetables cover all of this territory, so you can see where each location was, with respect to the others. This was a very strategic Railroad, and was train-order territory up until it merged with the L&N in 1971, and quite a few years after that on Seaboard System and CSX Transportation.
There are 42 different MONON/LNAC/CI&L train order locations represented here, with at least one train order image from each one. Ages of the orders range from 1887 until 1971, the last year of the MONON's existence. Those from the very early years are actually from the Louisville, New Albany & Chicago Railway (LNAC), which eventually became the Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (CI&L) Railway, finally changing its name to MONON in 1956, before finally being merged into the L&N as described above.
Actually, there are some parts of the MONON that are still in existence, even at this late date. This is a testament to the strategic location of this Railroad.
The 12 pictures shown are just a sampling of the quantity and variety of locations and operations unique to this long piece of Railroad.A concerted effort has been made, to give the best (some enhanced) images possible. There is a grand total of 370 images included.
The train orders in this CD show many operators' names, engine numbers, track conditions, operating procedures, and all kinds of meets and flag orders, all consistent with train-order operation. This is some of the best Railroad reading anywhere. Please review my other 50-plus train order CD's and be confident you are getting equally top-quality items, from many other Railroads.
