    Description

Your bid is for the NEW ENGLAND STATES LIMITED, Volume 2, Number 1, dated Summer 1978 inside, in a standard magazine size of 21.5 by 27.8 cm, and containing 40 pages with Donald B. Valentine, Jr. as Editor and Publisher. The front cover shows Pacific No.456 on Train 54 at Montsweag in a Walt Gifford photo probably taken in June 1950. Editor Valentine discusses railway bankruptcies in Running Extra. New England Rail News covers nearly 2 pages with its standard 6 photos that were news then and are historical items now. Then comes RAMBLING RAILS ALONG MAINE'S ROCKBOUND COAST by Ron Johnson, filling 20 pages with the story of the former Maine Central's Rockland Branch. Thirty seven (37) contemporary and period photos of railroad car ferries, bridges, depots, it is ALL here. All Aboard for Rockland and intermediate points! CONNECTICUT RAILROADS, Part One: "Panorama" (1832-1978) is next by Gregg M. Turner and Alice A. Ramsdell on 8 pages containing numerous maps, several interesting old photos of trains on high trestles, professional writing and notes. The Back Shop covers modeling MEC power and cars over several pages for the modeler hidden in us all. The rear cover shows another Walt Gifford photo of Consolidation No. 516 at Damariscotta Mills in August 1950 with a Ron Johnson photo of a contrasting GP38 No.262 at Wiscassett on 10 April 1978. Included is a photocopied first NEW ENGLAND RAIL SERVICE newsletter that was sent out with this issue to subscribers only. This magazine is in excellent, new-old-stock, unread condition, with just some slight spine age-cracking and a bit of staple rust from unheated Vermont storage. Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
