    Description

Your bid is for Volume 3, Number 2, of the NEW ENGLAND STATES LIMITED, dated only with a 1979 copyright. This magazine contains 40 pages and measures 21.4 by 27.7 cm with Donald B. Valentine, Jr. as Editor and Publisher. The Mail Bag comes first, along with the editor's rambling in "Running Extra". New England Rail News is rather fascinating viewed from the year 2014. Next is Jack Swanberg IN PURSUIT OF A LIBERAL EDUCATION, subtitled RECOLLECTIONS OF PARADISE LOST, which is a 12 page feature on the last of Central Vermont steam, including 2 pages in color. There are 20 photos overall, with 6 in color in addition to the front and rear covers shown below. I was born in Palmer and grew up on the Palmer Sub. Jack tells it just the way it was. Good photos of the Palmer steam servicing facilities are found here for all you modelers. HUMMING THROUGH THE VALLEY by Editor Donald B. Valentine, Jr. is: A History of the Mount Mansfield Electric Railroad and covers 17 pages and well worth the paper. This famous line ran from the Central Vermont Railway in Waterbury to Stowe Village over some spectacular countryside. The piece is definitive and includes 27 photos and a map... the whole story. All aboard! The Back Shop concerns modeling CV steam and diesel-electric locomotives over 5 pages, including 6 more CV prototype photos, including No.4551 in color. Seems like just yesterday I was issuing train orders to that Eng to run extra W R JCT to Windsor Interlocking. The rear cover shows more CV steam in color at Millers Falls, Massachusetts, and Brattleboro, Vermont. A photocopy of the two page Subscriber's Newsletter, dated April 1980, is included, which you'll find most interesting. Valentine has a talent for writing just what he is thinking and let the cinders fall where they may. This magazine is in excellent condition, showing minor signs of handling. You'll find this is one of the rarest and most sought after issues of The Limited and with very good reasons. Only one of which is explained in the Newsletter. It took me years to find my own copy and that was many, many years ago.
Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
