Description
M1907 Type Suspenders--MillsOriginal unusual variant of the M1907 cartridge belt suspenders, khaki cotton web construction made just like the standard M1907 type, but with the following differences:
[1] Shoulder strap webbing is ribbed and heavier than the standard M1907 version, measures 2 1/4 inch width.
[2] Retainers for blackened brass keeper bar in back consists of rivets at bottom, but crimped and riveted blackened brass tips at top where shoulder straps and rear belt straps are connected. Note that the brass keeper bar is missing.
[3] Most obvious difference is the web adjuster strap at top rear of shoulder yoke, which allowed the distance between shoulder straps to be adjusted to the wearer's preference.
Left shoulder strap is ink stamped with Mills bullet logo on rear underside. All fixed hooks and metal tabs in front are marked with Mills bullet logo, Mills address, and patent dates Nov. 7, 05/July 7, 07. Average fading from use with some minor age soiling to each of the front belt straps, but no fraying or other damage to webbing. Wire hook on right front strap is slightly bent but can easily be straightened. No oxidation or other damage to metal hardware.
As mentioned above, the only problem is that the brass keeper bar in rear is missing. I've had a number of the standard M1907 suspenders over the years, but have never seen one with the adjuster strap in back. Interesting piece for any collector of Mills and/or eagle snap gear and is in fine condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
