    Description

Your bid is for the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society BULLETIN No. 83, with a publication date of July 1951, and with Charles E. Fisher as Editor and President. This digest-sized soft cover book measures 15.5 by 22.9 cm and contains 96 pages, plus the wraps, plus 20 unpaginated glossy photo pages, printed on one side only, that each contain two Eng photographs in this book. The Editor, as always, introduces us to the content to follow and more than once mentions the many years of careful research necessary to produce this publication. A Century of International Interchange by Robert R. Brown follows and notes that 1951 marks the centenary of international rail traffic between Canada and the United States. When I first went to Canada by rail with a friend in June 1958, at age 15, to visit steam, I had no identification whatsoever with me. Neither did my 15 year-old companion. Both U.S. and Canadian customs people thot that was normal and none was requested. LOCOMOTIVES OF THE CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY COMPANY by Omar S. A. LaVallee and Robert R. Brown is what this book is all about. If you have no interest in CPR history, or steam locomotives, you'd probably be best advised to move along to the next auction. This definitive work is organized as follows: Introduction; Locomotive Builders; Government Construction: Pembina Branch; Thunder Bay Section; Prairie Section; Pacific Section; Series I, 1881-1905; Series II, 1905-1912; and Series III, 1912-present. One page, page 90, out of this entire book deals with Diesel-Electric Locomotives. All else concerns steam. The CPR had an immense variety of locomotives, from dual cabs to articulateds to the last Standards to operate in North America. This book belongs on the shelf of any Canadian railway worker, historian or steam locomotive student. This book is in excellent, near-perfect condition.
Your satisfaction guaranteed. Please see my other eBay auctions for more rare and scarce railroad paper. I provide personal service without silly eBay games like waiting for payment before shipping, mandated payment methods, clumsy communications and charging for return shipping. Please check my feedback and DSR's. Everything I sell is POSTPAID USA, so the winning bid is what you pay, plus eBay’s state tax if applicable, unless you want special services. I normally ship first day after auction ends IF I have a payment plan & a proper shipping address, or you are a recent previous buyer. Thank you for reading.
