Description
Ultra rare original membership medal of the Hereditary Order of Descendants of Colonial Governors Prior to 1750. Lots of research to be done on this one! The medal itself measures approximately 1 1/4” across and each of the name bars measures approximately 1 1/2” across. The suspension bar is named to GOV. JOHN WEST, and the bar in the center is named to GOV. WILLIAM CLAIRBORNE. — these are the qualifying ancestors that made the recipient eligible for membership. This is a very distinguished society which went inactive in 1944 when the founder died and all of the Society records disappeared. Active once again, it has more than 800 members. The medal is finely engraved to Jean Daviess Warren No. 648. Marked B B & B, for the jeweler. Circa 1900, solid 14K gold, but not marked to metal content. The whole assembly, medal, bars and ribbon weighs a grand total of 12.6 grams on a jeweler’s scale. The red enamel has some cracks and is missing a chunk in the “C” and in the bottom ray of the star. Heavy age toning overall. The ribbon is soiled and has a few stray threads. You are buying the material pictured. US shipping is .00 (Priority mail with tracking). No international shipping. Buyer pays sales tax as assessed and collected directly by eBay. This is a hobby not a living, so I try to keep it fun, otherwise why do it. Thank you for trading with me on eBay.
