    Russian Empire  Red Cross Medal "In Commemoration of the Russian-Japanese War
    "
    Silver, enamel, 16.51 g. Diameter 28.0 mm. Excellent preservation, beautiful patina. Peters # 203. Peters N II # 25. Dyakov # 1407.1 (R2). Bitkin # 1149.4, private work.
    Established on January 19, 1906. The medal was awarded to persons of both sexes who took part in the activities of the Russian Red Cross Society during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905.
    By order of Emperor Nicholas II of March 27, 1907, the right to accept and wear medals was extended to all officers, class ranks, clergy and other persons who served in the military department, but not for donations.

    are common.
    On the obvers

    the medal is a flat, less often curved cross, filled with red enamel.
    The structure of the enamel field on the medal cross may also vary.

    all rectangles radiating from the center to the sides of the cross.
    On the r
    everse side of the medal there are relief
    inscriptions: "RUSSIAN-JAPANESE" - in a semicircle in the upper part of the medal, "1904-1905" -
    horizontally in the middle and "WAR" - in the lower part of the medal.
    The medal was minted by order of the Red Cross Society exclusively by private companies.
    According to some reports, minting of medals at the courtyard was impossible due to the fact that enamel work was not carried out there.
