    Description

Soviet Graduation Badge of the All-Union Law Institute for Studies by Correspondence, early- to mid-1950s issue.
This is GUARANTEED ORIGINAL Officially Issued badge from the Stalin era – NOT a replica or more recent issue.
Made in Brass and high-quality “hot-baked” Enamels; measures 49.0 mm x 27.2 mm. Three-piece construction: the gilded state emblem and the silvered plaque with the school name are separate, superimposed parts. The Cyrillic letters
ВЮЗИ (“VYuZI”) on the plaque stand for
    Всесоюзный
    Юридический
    Заочный
    Институт
. Note that the state emblem is of pre-1948 style, with 11 scrolls representing the number of republics in the Soviet Union (the early depiction of the style emblem continued to be used on some of the graduation badges well into the 50s).
The badge is in OK condition. The blue enamel is chipped above the state emblem and has some hairlines, but most of it is still intact and shows nice luster. The white enameled border is perfect. All the enamel on this piece is 100% ORIGINAL – there are no enamel repairs. The state emblem is very nicely preserved showing practically no wear; its details are nice and crisp. The screw post is original, measures about 7 mm long. It comes with an unmarked screw plate which is a replacement but fits the screw perfectly.
This rare and attractive piece can be a nice addition to a collection of early Soviet badges or law memorabilia.
