***NOTE- MOST PRINTS ARE MUCH SHARPER, WITH BETTER COLOR & SATURATION. WE ARE HAVING AN EBAY CAUSED ERROR: POOR  SHARPNESS, COLOR, & RESOLUTION PROBLEMS WITH THE PHOTO YOU SEE HERE. IT IS GOING TO TAKE A WHILE FOR EBAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM - SORRY. WE ARE VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THIS!
This is a quality
lithograph shrinkwrapped and printed on heavy stock with a high gloss
UV protect
ive coating
from an
original hand printed photograph by long time Hawaii professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus,
cropped, and mounted on a single 8x10 inch backing board **which is included as part of the print that you can see her
e, this is slightly
different
than another version we're selling
(see photo), with caption and photography information on the back of an epic day at North Oahu's Sunset Beach circa 1972. It was shot at a higher elevation from a satellite dish tracking receiver at Paumalu (above Sunset Beach) on the mountain overlooking the surf spot at about 600 foot elevation.
It is initialed ('BR 72') on the front lower corner of the photo, is shrink wrapped to protect it from damage, and has preservation tips included in the label on the back.
On this particular day at 8:30 a.m. the 6-10+ foot swells with perfect conditions were lined up to the horizon, there was one guy out. It was like this all day long with no lulls and got bigger in the afternoon with ultra consistent 10-12+ (Hawaiian size) foot mirror conditions with a few sneaker sets, one of the most consistent swells you'll ever see at this break. This photo was published in several surfing publications.
**Note:
The original
was shot on older black and white Tri-X film so it looks grainier than the small sample print
(please be aware of this)
, but is still a record of an awesome day and nice historic collectible surfing photo.
It would make a great birthday or holiday gift for someone who surfed, likes Sunset Beach, or historic surfing images of Hawaii. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.
Sunset Beach has been surfed since the early 1950's and possibly earlier, and was named for a housing development in the area during the 1950's.  It is the home of many professional surfing competitions during the winter months including the Triple Crown of Surfing (September thru March) on the North Shore when some of the suggested, largest, and most dangerous surf pounds the area with surf generated from distant North Pacific Ocean storms. The waves here are incredibly powerful and dangerous for novice surfers. Sunset is primarily a right hand break for 'regular footers' although there is a left break thats sometimes makeable. It can be ridden as small as 2-3 foot up to about 18 feet when it begins to close out across the channel to Kammieland.
Our original lithographic photos are very popular and affordable to local people and tourists visiting Hawaii, as well as people who have never visited Hawaii.
We're proud to mention that many of our photos were used as background artwork in the new CBS television network series "Hawaii 5-0".
Prices are less than you would pay retail at a gallery print and production costs are lower than most folks so we want to offer affordable quality art for people who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

e-Bay's transfer process and the computer screen makes the photo look contrasty and slightly darker or lighter, depending on your monitor brightness and contrast settings. This photo may have a different tonal range and brightness than you may see on your individual computer screen. **When it is cropped and attached to the single mat 8x10" backing board you will be able to see the backing board around the borders of the print.
Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot easily be removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo. If you want to use a larger frame and mat and you can't find an experienced framer who knows how to do it, contact us and we can provide information explaining how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10" frame and displaying the image as is. We want to make sure you know exactly what you are buying so we hope our thorough description of these photos will answer all your questions before you purchase. We also have a few 11x14's unmounted of this print also, please inquire.
