U.S. Cavalry Ames 1906 Experimental Saber rare

Blade 30" ( these were produced with 27, 30 and 32" blades and the fullers are proportionate to the blade ). Crisp markings as seen in the pics. Not sharpened but has numerous small edge nicks which I could not catch in a pic. The edge nicks can be easily felt with your fingers but visually are hard to see. Maybe a dozen or so that can be seen with close inspection. A few dark spots near the ricasso and some nickel loss towards the tip. The blade washer is missing. The thin sharkskin grip is about 75% with a small crack in the wood near the pommel. Better than most as this thin sharkskin did not do well in use. The pommel has not been hammered on and is flush. The original twist wire wrap and the 2 flanking strands are present and tight. The usual sharkskin shrinkage gap is seen on the finger side of the grip. Hilt with dull finish, some minor nicks small spots of nickel loss and some dark spots as pictured. The scabbard is a 1902 and is as pictured. It fits fine. The original leather covered hickory wood scabbards are extremely rare in any condition with most being totally trashed plus they were just plain mud fence ugly.
