Russian February Revolution Jetton

commemorative medallion), March - November 1917.
This is GUARANTEED ORIGINAL item from 1917, not a replica!
Made in brass ("light bronze"), 26.1 mm wide. The obverse shows a female figure representing Russia holding a flag with the date "March 1st" and shield showing the year of 1917. The lady is in finer detail and more pronounced relief than some of the similar contemporary jetons of the same general design. There is an inscription "Free Russia" in the upper part. The reverse has rising sun and motto "Freedom, Equality and Fraternity" - a refrain borrowed from the French Revolution
The jetton is in VERY GOOD condition. There is light wear throughout, but most of the raised details are still well-defined.
The edge is free of bumps, dents or any other significant wear. A very attractive piece!

There are several known versions of this "Liberty" jetton slightly varying in details. The version with the specific date on the flag is quite uncommon. It may indicate that the Jetton is from Moscow, to which rebellion had spread by 1 March 1917 (or 14 March according to modern Gregorian calendar.)
