    Description

***NOTE- MOST PRINTS ARE MUCH SHARPER, WITH BETTER COLOR & SATURATION. WE MAY BE HAVING AN EBAY CAUSED ERROR: POOR  SHARPNESS, COLOR, & RESOLUTION PROBLEMS WITH THE PHOTO YOU SEE HERE. WE ARE WAITING FOR EBAY TO FIX THIS***
This is an older quality black and white photo, that was custom printed from a copy negative from the original, and printed on thick glossy lithographic paper,
cropped, and mounted on a single 8x10 inch backing board **which includes black and white margins as part of the print (see photo)
and not a mat board cutout, of a Pam Am Sikorsky S-42  "Flying Boat" over
    Waikiki
    B
each at Hawaii. It is shrink wrapped to protect it from damage and has preservation tips included in the label on the back (the white removable sticker is on the shrinkwrap). The 'China Clipper" flights from California started in November of 1935.
The commercial flights later landed at Keehei Lagoon, near Lagoon Drive which later became the site of the first Honolulu Airport. In 1931 two flying boats from the U.S. naval air station at Pearl Harbor set off to visit every harbor of every island of the Hawaiian archipelago. The flight, involving about 1500 miles of flying, was the first comprehensive survey of the military and commercial potential of aviation in Hawaii. Please be aware that this photo is unlike newer computer digital prints because the original was shot on older grainy black and white film and printed from a copy negative and when enlarged will look grainier, and is still a nice historic and artistic photo.
It would make a great birthday or holiday gift for someone who likes Hawaiiana,
    airplanes, or
historic aviation images of Hawaii. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.

    PLEASE ALSO NOTE
    :
e-Bay's transfer process and the computer screen makes the photo look contrasty and slightly darker or lighter, depending on your monitor brightness and contrast settings. This photo is printed on thick glossy surface lithographic paper with a UV coating. The photo offered has more gray tones, deep, richer blacks, less contrast, and has the unique look of a real silver halide gelatin print, which has a different tonal range and brightness than you may see on your individual computer screen. We do however try to crop and correct them so they look best. It is printed on 8x10 inch paper and margins may be slightly trimmed. **When it is cropped and attached to the single mat 8x10" backing board you will be able to see the backing board around the borders and margins of the print. It makes the print look like there is a margin around the edges of the photo which you can see here,
and is not a mat board cutout
    .
Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot easily be removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo. If you want to use a larger frame and mat and you can't find an experienced framer who knows how to do it, contact us and we can provide information explaining how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10" frame and displaying the image as is. We want to make sure you know exactly what you are buying so we hope our thorough description of these photos will answer all your questions before you purchase. We can also print in larger sizes, please inquire.
