Description
Here is a seldom seen variant of the 1902 Pattern for the US Army Officer's Formal Uniform. It is from the Rhode Island State First Light Infantry Militia, Providence, and is a formal dress uniform as owned by a Colonel.
The two added sleeve bullion trefoil lines show that the owner was originally a Captain when the uniform was originally tailored.
The two added lines are of a bullion material that has not aged to the same extent as the three originals.
Included are a nice undamaged but slightly tarnished set of shoulder boards attached with 1902 Pattern US Army buttons.
The left arm patch is for the R.I. First Light Infantry Militia Unit that was originally formed in 1818 and headquartered in Providence.
The buttons are a complete set, are a high dome pattern displaying the State Seal, and are from D. Evans & Co, Attleboro, Mass.
The rear styling is quite reminiscent of the earlier style of Pre-Civil War through IWP Uniforms with the bullion tail trim, buttons, and bullion stars at the bottom of each tail.
All in all this is a very attractive, not to mention unusual, uniform.
While there is some soiling especially on the rear tail, the exterior presents very well and this uniform displays a unusual and seldom encountered variant of a US Army Officer's 1902 Pattern Formal Dress Uniform.
Your reasonable offers are welcome and will be given serious consideration.
